Wow! My last post regarding what colors go with Oak or Amber toned wood cabinets really got some attention and brought on so many questions from all of you so I decided to do a follow up. With lots of pictures this time! If you missed it click here...
Golden Oak was ubiquitous in the 1980s, and now many people are facing the choice of whether to replace these cabinets or remodel around them–and many of the cabinets are still in good shape. As a NJ Home Stager I see them all the time and try whenever possible to work with them in order to save the seller money.
Of course painting them is always and option and one many people choose. A popular choice is to go dark as in this example below.
If you like this look you can always go with a color like Benjamin Moore’s Black Bean Soup
I personally love white kitchen cabinets.. They’re timeless and work in both Traditional and Contemporary settings. You can see in this example below how the yellow walls look sickly in this kitchen and the fluorescent lighting doesn’t help either!
Jennifer Rizzo chose Benjamin Moore’s Old Prairie to transform her tired Oak cabinets.
But this post is not about painting your cabinets but the walls!
My Top 5 Colors were chosen because they are basically fool proof with Oak cabinets. I prefer to know specifics (flooring, backsplash, adjacent rooms) whenever possible but The Top 5 will work with the majority of Oak kitchens out there.
You asked to see more examples of blues, greens and grays in actual kitchens.
So here you go!
What do you think? Are you a fan?
I tried to link to the source when possible so click on it if you want to know the exact color. And if would like specific colors to go with your countertops and flooring contact me. Don’t worry if you’re not local, my E-Design services are affordable and a great way to get it right the first time!
