This week I got to work on a local client’s new living room design and I thought I’d share how my original board evolved.

When I work with a design client we start first with a detailed questionnaire, then a color profile test, and lastly looking through their magazine tear outs or Pinterest boards.

This is what I came up with based on her budget and the colors she preferred.

After she had time to study it she realized she didn’t really like the sofa table and was thinking of something else for a rug. She felt the  Bamboo blinds were a bit too dark and was not crazy about the lamps.  So I made some modifications and came up with this board…

As you can see on the second revision we switched out the rug, tables, woven blind and added 2 small ottoman’s from Ballard Designs.  These are great for additional seating or can be tucked under the table and they are the perfect size! We weren’t sure about the rusty red rug so that got switched out…

She then spotted a mirror on Joss and Main she liked and some lamps so we added that to the board.  I decided in in order to balance out all the earthy colors in the room to chose a geometric rug in a dusty blue that is sure to give her living room some Wow factor.

And there you have it!  I can’t wait to see this one come to life! This client moved in a couple of years ago and is finally ready to get this done! I’m hoping to be able to go back to take photos after it’s installed.
