My last post  contained a lot of images of wallpapered entryways and foyers and judging by your comments, you loved them!  But as we know, installing wallpaper requires a level of commitment most people are not comfortable with.. Me included!

For me, as a NJ Home Stager my biggest hurdle is getting sellers to consider removing it! Because I can tell you, this is what I see on an everyday basis.. And I know a potential buyer will be turned off and possibly walk away from your house unless you do something about it!

And sellers fight me every step of the way when it comes to removing it! My answer is always, If you don’t want to go through the trouble of removing it, why would your buyer? And let me tell you, the 80’s paper is a real pain in the you know what to remove.. It’s a slow process with itty bitty little pieces…

Nothing like todays wallpaper which pretty much comes off in one sheet, or so I’m told. I don’t have any experience with it so I started doing some research and got a little excited with all the choices out there which require no commitment!

Let’s start with the most traditional method.. Sherwin Williams has an Easy Change paper which is a lot like traditional paper but will not damage the walls behind it. According to their site you will only need to wipe the walls with a wet sponge.

While continuing my research I stumbled upon Tempaper Designs and I love their choices!  Their selections are current and they have a lot to choose from and prices for a double roll are around $98 which is not too bad…

Tempaper Designs

According to their site, Tempaper is self-adhesive, “peel-and-stick”, temporary wallpaper that eliminates the need for paste or water. Simply remove its backing and adhere to a smooth, primed and painted surface. Just peel off to remove. It is fun and high-impact decorating for those who do not want to make a long-term commitment to a permanent design or renters who can’t!

It is recommended that you apply Tempaper to surfaces that have been painted with an eggshell or satin finish. Applications on matte or flat paints are not recommended. And I was happy to see that Tempaper can be applied in bathrooms or areas where there is steam or indirect moisture. Tempaper is a water-based product therefore the adhesive will not be affected by humidity. Woo-Hoo!

Spoonflower also has wallpaper that is removable and the cost is $5 per linear foot and the most awesome thing about this company is that you can even upload a design and they will create custom wallpaper just for you! Here’s the specifics…

  • $5 per linear foot, $60 per 12 ft roll
  • 24 inches wide
  • Eco-friendly inks and paper, PVC-free
  • Self-adhesive: no paste required
  • Easily removable

This is not your grandmother’s paper people!

Some others sites you might want to check out are Rosenberry Rooms Urban Outfitters and YLiving. With all these temporary papers, I can’t believe more people aren’t using them!  I think the toughest decision here is which one to select!

Have any of you used any of these removable wallpapers? And for those that haven’t… Have you been craving some wallpaper goodness somewhere?

Have a great Wednesday everybody!
