Is it really the second week of March already? Crazy!
This past week was a really busy one and my poor blog suffered because of it! Of course, on one of my busiest weeks, I have problems with my new website and blog! But thanks to Jes at 8550Graphics I’m back up and running..
What do you guys think of the new look? Now my website and blog are all on WordPress, which will make things easier for me. I’m sorry for the confusion and I appreciate you all hanging in there.
My week consisted of owner occupied Staging consultations and one new Redesign client. They hired me to choose paint colors and help them with furniture placement. And yes, help them dress all those bare windows, which can be so expensive and eat up most of the decorating budget! We ended up liking bamboo shades for the family room and dining room, framed by colorful pattered drapes similar to these.
I’m a big fan of the bamboo shade, it brings warmth and texture into a room and can be picked up inexpensively and they look great with floor length drapes. My go to place for woven shades has always been JC Penney or JCP as they now want to be called.
Their standard 31×72 bamboo shade retails for $55 and I really like it in Pecan. But if you like a lighter or darker color, they have 2 other choices. I’ve used them for years and have had mine in my own family room for 7 years now and still love them!
Smith & Noble is another choice for bamboo shades, but their prices (even with a sale) can still be too high when decorating on a budget. A more affordable option is Overstock.com..
This particular shade is one of my favorites and a 31×72 window is $48.99. This is a great price for a cordless shade and you have a few choices in colors as well.
Now, if you are looking for quality somewhere in between Overstock & Smith & Noble I suggest you check out Country Curtain’s shades. This insulated version retails for $89.50- $119.50 and you can choose the banding in a couple of different colors. I’ve had clients purchase these and they were thrilled with the quality!
For those of you who like the textured look but would rather have a roller shade, Country Curtains Wicker Roller Shade is reasonably priced and another favorite and prices start at $39.00. I have these in my bedroom and love them! If you are going to be pulling them up and down a couple of times a day, the roller option is best.
This Driftwood Roller Shade with woven-in stripes caught my eye and prices start at $64.50. Not bad, unless you have 9 windows in one room like I do!
Target and Beth & Bath are also great places to turn to when looking for affordable bamboo shades. So there you have it, my favorite go to places! If you know of other retailers where you can pick these up inexpensively, let me know!
Thanks for the visit and I hope you enjoyed this post! Now, go do something about all those naked windows!
